Origins of Black’s BBQ
Black’s BBQ was founded in Lockhart, Texas, in 1932 by Edgar Black. The restaurant has been in the Black family for four generations and is now run by Edgar’s grandson, Kent Black. “It’s a lot of love put into it,” said neighbor Mike Bush, who often eats at the restaurant. “I’m so glad they are still here. ”
The Black family said they were too busy Thursday to comment on the fire. They said they’d be OK and hoped to reopen soon. Kent Black said they’ve had other fires before, but nothing this bad. He said they expect to be open again in a few weeks.
