Nina used to run a success youngsters’ shop, but it turned into destroyed while combating broke out in her home village in Japanese Ukraine. Now she is beginning once more, constructing up a new catering enterprise with help from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).

“At the beginning of January 2015, we got very unhappy information from my mom-in-law,” Nina recollects. “She stated our keep had been hit. After a while, I returned to reality and realized that we had to get on with our lives.”
Dumplings with heart and soul
The family back to their home village six months after fleeing, whilst the fighting had quietened down. Soon Nina was given a proposal from the village council to paint as a social carer for aged human beings. She took the task. “People were surprised that a former shop owner would need to paint as a career. But I no longer disdain to do any paintings,” Nina says.
The job brought about an unexpected business opportunity. Nina explains: “One of the women underneath my care asked me to make dumplings, as she’d heard I was into exact at it exactly. She becomes my first customer. Then other human beings commenced ordering as well. Besides dumplings, we commenced making pancakes, cabbage rolls, meatballs, and pizza. Sometimes even desserts.”
Tetiana Ivanovna, an everyday client, says: “Nina is my carer, and as soon as I heard that she made dumplings, I requested her to make them for me. She brought a few, and they had been very tasty. I like to shop for dumplings with diverse fillings. The rate for her products is quite affordable, and their quality is much higher than what you can buy in the store. She has tasty food due to the fact she puts her heart and soul into it.”
Food brings human beings together. Nina’s orders had been growing; however, to keep up with the demand, she needed more refrigerators.
“Last 12 months, my brother advised me that the Norwegian Refugee Council turned into inviting applications for business grants,” she explains. “My daughter and I crammed in an application together. To our wonder, we acquired a brief reply from the agency to mention that we have been a hit. Soon we acquired a grant and bought a far-needed garage freezer and fast-freezing chamber. Our manufacturing doubled!”
